How to transform self-doubt into confidence

Tom

We all experience doubts. Self-doubts can creep up on us all the time. But did you know that you can turn self-doubts into confidence?

Sometimes we need to fall to learn how to get up. We need to experience certain things in life to make us stronger and more resilient. Life is one big learning experience and when we learn how to go with the flow more, we can take our lessons learned from unpleasant experiences and use them to avoid experiencing them again.

Self-doubt occurs when we don’t know our true self and our abilities. To increase your confidence and overcome harmful self-doubts, you need to start by looking at yourself and really getting to know who you really are.

How to find your true self

To help you learn who your true self really is, find a quiet and distraction-free place and do some journaling or self-reflection on questions like:

  • What are your top 5-10 values? (you can do a google search to get examples of values you can pick from)
  • What are you passionate about?
  • What are you good at?
  • Who are you right now? (not who you want to be)

Some people like doing this exercise by writing down their answers, creating a piece of art, or meditation while reflecting on their answers to these questions. Do it however feels the most natural to you.

You can also ask others for feedback. Ask them what they value most about their relationship with you. Ask them about the key traits that they admire about you. Ask them what they feel your character strengths are.

Once you have a better idea of who you are, seek out the tools and support to allow your true self to shine through in your everyday life. Armed with your newly rediscovered self-awareness, you’ll notice your negative self-doubts getting quieter, and your naturally confident self coming to the surface.

Using natural therapies to support your true self

When you experience self-doubt, your body is often already in a state of stress and noise. To help calm your mind and body, several natural therapies can help. One of our clients was able to quiet her mind and that opened up a much-needed opportunity for inner healing.

This client came to us after suffering from chronic stress and the mental and physical effects of several past traumatic experiences and abuse. She had many relationships that negatively impacted her mental health and she found it difficult to live, work, and maintain relationships with others.

Before coming to QuietMind Co.she worked hard to find a normal, happy life. She tried everything from psychiatric help, hospitalizations, AA, group therapy, spiritual guidance, and even indigenous healing. They were able to help her better function on a day-to-day basis but never dealt with the root of the trauma.

In the Fall of 2019, she began a set of customized natural therapies with us about 1-2x per week. That’s when she, and one of her close friends, started to notice a change inside her:

“She seems so much calmer, at peace with the decisions in difficult life issues, more focused, and much happier! Without doubt she is a more settled soul,” says one friend.

This friend also noticed that she doesn’t go straight to self-doubt and the worse case or darkest scenarios anymore. Our client changed her philosophy and truly started to believe that everything happens for a reason and that it will all work out in the end. This boosted her confidence and quieted the self-doubt voice inside her.
